Based on Ingmar Bergman’s Screenplay
Scenes from a Marriage
Performance Description
Katarzyna Minkowska looks at marriage. How do people from different generations, at different stages of life and at different moments in their relationships, build love today? Do we still repeat the same patterns, regardless of age, life experience, social class or education?
Within the dominant narrative of romantic love, it is difficult to find space for small, conventional, seemingly unremarkable stories. Yet it is precisely these grey, everyday stories that fill our lives and make it possible to find closeness, safety and trust. Or to keep searching for them, to compromise and to fight. To fight every day. Or to let go.
The licence to stage the performance was granted by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Ltd, London, acting on behalf of the Ingmar Bergman Foundation.
