Frankenstein. Reportage
Event Description
Based on the novel by Mary Shelley
Direction: Zbigniew Lisowski
Frankenstein. Reportage is a punk theatre production based on Mary Shelley’s famous novel. The director draws on all the contexts surrounding the novel’s creation, particularly the eruption of the Indonesian volcano Tambora in 1815, which caused a series of climatic problems across virtually the whole of Europe.
How do we read Frankenstein today? The creators portray a man confronted with universal problems: a sense of loneliness, the search for love, and the rise of evil. They explore the limits of creative freedom and ask who, in our own era, bears responsibility for the Monster … The performance staged in a form that echoes documentary theatre invites the audience to look again at this 19th-century story and recognise within it the fears and dilemmas of the present.
Please note: 15+. The performance contains sequences with flashing lights.
Running time: 2 h, with an interval
